Grant Programs
«Library's friends»
Short description: Informational program and program of "Soros - Kyrgyzstan" social management fund conduct competition on realization of cooperated projects between libraries and other interested organizations like: local administrative agencies, NGOs, Mass Media agencies, etc. Projects have to be designed for libraries' promotion, search for new service methods.
Competition's goals - assistance to libraries' promotion by studying consumers' necessities and realization of cooperated projects with local state administrations, NGOs.
The following project subjects are encouraged:
- search and embedding the new forms of work in libraries, using informational service
- Libraries' service expansion
- Increasing of library consumers
- Attraction of different society groups (poor, retired, students, businessmen, etc.) for collaboration with libraries.
Requirements, preferences: the priority will be given to project proposals with joint budget, when partner's investment is not less than 30% from the whole grant. Inquired financial aid doesn't have to be more than 3000$ USD.

Central Asian Program of Human rights, Conflict prevention and settlement, the Netherlands' kingdom embassy, Kazakhstan.
Short Description: the kingdom of Netherlands provides grant for (40 000 euros) projects, which are aiming to develop human rights and work out ways of conflict prevention and settlement.
Requirements, preferences: obvious improving influence on human rights' development and contribution for conflict prevention and settlement. The project has to be initiated by local agencies. Projects aiming to strengthen institutions and state agencies, which are responsible for human rights' control, corruption decrease, penal system, law system, cancel of death penalty, freedom of mass media, females' rights protection, conflict settlement and prevention in Fergana region.
Application forms from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are available (on Russian and English languages). Applications have to be submitted to the embassy of Netherlands' kingdom in Almaty city.

Grants for projects in Cultural and Art sphere, by support of Swiss Agency of support and collaboration in Kyrgyzstan (SASC)
Short Dscription: SASC collaborates with "Tilekke-Tirek" fund, it provides small grants for realization different artistic projects. Annually this kind of support is provided to 25 art and cultural representatives in Kyrgyzstan. Grants are available for local organizations and individuals, for all kinds of art.
Requirements, preferences: singularity of idea, relevance of the problem, extra financial sources are encouraged. Particular attention is paid to the projects from country sides, national minorities, youth groups
Deadline of realization: December 2006 - June 2007.
Amount of grant: $1500

"Ideas' Development Market" (IDM) - 2007 grant competition (Improvement of Health care, nourishment and demography), World Bank
Short Description: IDM Bank is a program, which supports ideas of humanities' development. This year's subject: Health care indicators, nourishment and demography improvement. World Bank is searching for initiatives, that are using innovative mechanisms, owing to which is possible to provide help for poor groups; organizes partnerships in developing countries.
Topics:
- o Innovative mechanisms of providing services/goods' delivery for poor groups.
- o Partnerships between social and private sections, aiming to improve system of delivery the medical goods and services.
- o Innovative connections between spheres, like water supply, canalization, roads conditions refinement
- o Effective, by expenses, ways/ methods/ technologies, which are assisting for creation the local potential of information use, collection and analyzing ( in health care sphere)
Requirements, preferences: NGOs, social organizations, funds or agencies in humanitarian development are able to fill applications without extra partners. Projects, which are aiming to conduct researches and experience exchange ( article publication, conferences carrying out) are prohibited from participation.
Deadline of project realization: offered activities have to be done during two years after getting first grant payment.
Grant's amount: 50 000 - 200 000 $ USD.

Educating Programs

Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellow Scholarship Program, Washington
Short Description: The following program helps to deepen knowledge about democracy and called to promote the ideas of democracy. Practical program (5 months) is offered to civil activists. It helps to get better in strategies of democratic society.
Requirements: scholarship program is created for supporting the activists from the countries with developing democracy. The main requirement is knowing of English language.
Deadline and financial support: Program continues from the October 1st till the 31st of July. Semesters will start in October and March. Participants will get monthly scholarship, medical insurance and assistance in getting air tickets.

The John Smith Fellowship Program of scholarship
Short Description : Program's goal is to get acquainted young people from the former USSR with democratic organizations' work and role in developed countries. Program is considered for 5 weeks in Great Britain and includes seminars, trainings and working visits. Successful candidates - democratic leaders, who are ready to contribute significant changes into the future of their countries.
Requirements: candidates are supposed to have a clear image of Program goals and tasks.
Age: 25-35 years old, with the possibility of exclusion for particular talented people.
- The level of English language: IELTS testing, candidates who successfully get through the interview will have to give exams on IELTS.
- Work Experience: Candidates must have permanent place of work. All of the presented recommendation letters will be checked out.
- Professional experience: Candidates have to work in political, law and mass media sphere
- Candidates have to provide evidences of their participation in political reorganizations
- Vision and Motivation: Candidates have to exhibit their possibilities to contribute into democratic reorganizations, after coming back to their countries.
- Candidates have to present clear proposals about the ways of how they are going to use gained knowledge in promoting democratic reorganizations.
- Team skills: Successful candidates are supposed to be able to work in teams
- Experience and skills of public presentations:
Candidates have to be able to make public presentations, promoting principles and values of democracy. Computer skills: Candidates are supposed to have basic knowledge of computer work e-mail.
Financial aid: 24 participants from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine will be in 2007. The scholarship covers all of the expenses (except participant family's staying in Great Britain)
Program will be conducted from October 1st till 31st of July.

Leadership School 2007 by International Center "Interbilim" , Bishkek
Short description: IC"Интербилим" notifies participants' recruitment for "Leadership School -2007". Program includes the set of trainings like: decision making, interests' promotion, strategic thinking, basics of effective communications, negotiations skills, organization management, facilitation and development of leadership qualities.
More detailed information is available in "Interbilim" Center.
Requirements: candidates from Kyrgyz regions are eligible only! (Bishkek is not included). Candidates have to be able to develop their leadership skills, and actively participate in social life. Age: from 20 years old and elder. Candidates are supposed to have experience in state agencies, NGOs, youth organizations, business and policy agencies.
Deadline and Financial aid: "Interbilim" center takes all of the expenses for education (wages for traineres, experts and consultants; manuals; 2 coffee breaks and lunch). Besides organizers will sign up a contract with participants, where is said that if participant skips one training module, he will be excluded from the program and will have to compensate all of the training expenses.

Short Description: social fund "Peremena" by European Committee's financial support conducts competition among remedial NGOs for seminar participation, which will be conducted on the 16-17th of October in Osh city. The main goal of the seminar is giving the following knowledge and skills:
- understanding the main conceptions, which are connected with advocacy and lawyers.
- Preparation of effective presentations (speech conduction, using effective stylistic methods)
- Speech presentation (using voice opportunities and gestures' language)
- Using argumentation in the context of public presentations (objection, fact, thesis)
- Using effective methods for seminars, interviews, debates

Competitions
Extension of "Internet Hookup - 2006" competition
Short Description: Soros Fund carries out competition on Internet hookup among HEIs and educational institutions, medical agencies, NGOs, mass media agencies and libraries of Bishkek city. Fund provides only Internet Hookup, it doesn't provide any equipment. Grant recipients who are located in the city will pay 7 tiyins for one minute without taxes. The work of Grant recipients, who are located beyond the city's borders, equals to international phone conversation.
Requirements, preferences: preference will be given to the organizations, which participate in other Fund's projects realization, in creation and support different informational resources in Internet: web-site pages, net data bases and other available sources
