Training on development of Career Centers Print

Trainings for Career Centers were organized at the Education Network Association "EdNet" within the framework of Career Centers Development project at HEI's in Kyrgyzstan by tender of the Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia (EFCA).

The trainers were International expert-consultants Gerlinda Melchiori from University of Michigan and Meruert Adaibekova, Career Center Director, KIMEP Almaty, and also local trainers Stupak S.-BAFE Career Center Director and Averkina N. - BFEA Career Center Manager, Maslov A. and Abdykadyrova A. from "Expert" Consulting Company.

The participants were from pilot HEIs: Kyrgyz National University named after J. Balasagyn, general_2Kyrgyz State Technical University named after I. Razzakov, Osh State University, American University Central Asia, Kyrgyz State Law Academy, Bishkek Academy of Financial and Economics, Naryn State University, and Kyrgyz-Turkish "Manas" University.
The training was composed of several components: "Institutional development of Career Center - international experience and training" and "Skills generated trainings for Career Centers' officials". general_15

The goals of the first component of the training carried out by international experts of the USA and Kazakhstan were to acquaint with present international experience, to form general conception of the business company's expectations and requirements, and to acquaint with proposed scheme of cooperation. The body of the training was turned to the forming insight of institutional development of the Career Center, strategy, mission, task and activity directions on the base of real examples from international colleagues.
Local experts for institutional development of the Career Centers objectives were to form the knowledges about Career Centers creating strategies in general_10Kyrgyzstan. The training constitutes full stroke teaching for Career Center creating, forming its course and content with practical viewpoint. As the result of two first blocks of the training participants formed conceptual vision of the aims and tasks, versions of local and international courses of work, and content of Career Center's activity. Teaching sessions supposed a work in small groups for discussion, fastening knowledges, and applying them on practice during models and schemes of Career Centers creatinggeneral_14 process. These "rehearsals" helped in forming development conception, working out the mission, strategy and direction of activities of present Career Centers at the pilot HEIs, which will be presented to project close-out (2nd part of the training).
The skills generating components of the training acquainted Career Centers' officials with practical skills of students and alumnus education organization, consulting and research activity realization. Development of the practical skills of work with students in respect to form their career, the research, consultation realization skills and work with business companies are necessary components in pilot HEIs' Career Centers' officials forming process.
