MercyCorps Kyrgyzstan announces an open competition for the participation in the Momentum Program of the International Center for Human Development (ICHD). The main principles and objectives of ICHD are to unite the most prominent representatives of the public, scientific, cultural, and business sectors of the region, to strengthen the democratic mechanisms and to foster free market values.
The goal of Momentum Program is to assist young promising decision makers from the region to acquire the leadership skills necessary to turn their respective countries into more democratic and prosperous entities that can hold their place in the world politically and economically; and to apply new negotiation and leadership skills in developing cross-regional cooperative gain projects.
Momentum is an opportunity for the young leaders from Kyrgyzstan to learn and acquire more skills and knowledge that will bring positive democratic change and improve negations and leadership culture.
Participation in the "Momentum" program will allow young leaders from Kyrgyzstan to participate in 2 weeks training at Cambridge University (trainings developed and conducted by professors from Harvard) and also initiate projects conducted by alumni network and participate in professional trainings in Kyrgyzstan/
Successful applicant for the Momentum Program should:

Be in the age group of 20 - 40 years old

Have a university degree

Demonstrate a track record of leadership and introducing change (in any of political, civil, economic, scientific or social sectors)

Have outstanding communication skills

Availability of International Kyrgyz Passport of 2006 example

Program applicant must also show strong commitment to development goals and demonstrate willingness to return and initiate change
Knowledge of English language is preferred
Momentum program is open for everyone who meets these criteria. Participation of young women leaders strongly encouraged. Deadline for applications is January 26, 2007.
