Announcing a contest on Development of a Pilot Education Standard Print

The USAID Accounting/Certified International Professional Accountant (A/CIPA) project, Regional Education Network Association, and Soros Foundation-Kyrgyzstan announce a contest for members of training and methodology associations, creative and academic groups, and professional organizations to develop a pilot state educational standard in Accounting for higher education to facilitate the development of the accounting profession and education in Kyrgyzstan.

Requirements for Participation in the Contest:
Members of training and methodology associations, creative and academic groups, and professional organizations with relevant experience are invited to participate in this contest.

The process will have two stages:
Stage 1: Selection of applications and resumes (From April 9 - 23, 2007).
To participate in the contest applicants must submit the following:

  • a brief contest application describing the methodology for identification of general and specific competences of a graduate and structure of the standard with the description of implementation (no longer than 5 pages)
  • a chronological-order resume, no longer than 5 pages, that provides (but is not limited to) information on:
    • general work experience;
    • work experience in development of methodologies, educational standards, study materials and programs;
    • continuing professional education;
    • participation in various programs/projects
    • СAP/CIPA designation (if any).

Short-listed candidates who submit applications along with resumes will be invited to participate in a workshop organized by the Soros Foundation-Kyrgyzstan on issues of development, implementation, and assessment of competence-oriented educational standards.  Based on the applications received, a joint working group may be formed.

After attending the workshop, contenders will develop a pilot model of educational standards in Accounting in accordance with the established requirements which will be passed on to the second stage of the contest. USAID Accounting/Certified International Professional Accountant (A/CIPA) project will provide funding for the winning team for the development of the pilot educational standards in Accounting.

Applications or inquiries for additional information may be submitted to either the USAID Accounting/Certified International Professional Accountant (A/CIPA) project or Regional Education Network Association by April 23, 2007.
